Aims & approach

Aims

Karma Classroom gives educators tips for self-care to reduce burnout and maintain a healthy classroom environment.

Educators learn innovative techniques to nurture pro-social behaviour, improve self-regulation, maximise learning opportunities, and reduce stress levels for themselves and the children they teach. The techniques taught are grounded in yoga-based movement, breath and mindfulness, using daily 'Peace Pauses'.

Program structure

The PD program is offered in individual and group training formats and is available in a 5-hour accredited format and a 3-hour fast track format (better for whole site trainings).

The monthly public 5-hour workshop is delivered live online so educators can easily attend from any location. Educators book on an individual basis.

For group workshops, both live online and face-to-face delivery modes, as well as follow-up coaching sessions, are available.

Program delivery

The program requires just minutes a day to make a big difference and no changes to the curriculum are required. Educators learn how to weave yoga, breathing and mindfulness into the classroom using the Karma Classroom Activity Cards (included with the training) on a daily basis to:

  • Energise, re-focus and boost moods with simple, fun and easy-to-use yoga sequences at the desk, standing or on the floor.
  • Learn different breathing techniques to energise and/or calm.
  • Cultivate tools to manage energy levels, various forms of child stress and challenging classroom situations.
  • Understand the healing benefits of visualisations.
  • Weave mindful activities to create calm, build resilience and cultivate compassion.
  • Introduce discussion topics to support a positive minds growth set.
  • Enjoy stress busters to shift energy and shake things up.

Implementation support

  • Access to professional facilitator, instructor or mentor
  • Implementation training webinars or modules
  • Regular webinars or access to community of professional practice
