Aims & approach

The Achievement Program aims to improve wellbeing and learning outcomes through a whole-school approach to a suite of health areas. Schools are guided to consider their existing health and wellbeing practices, identify areas for improvement, and implement practical and sustainable actions across key domains including leadership and staff, the physical environment, culture, curriculum, and community partnerships. Based on the World Health Organization's Health Promoting Schools model and aligned to the Victorian Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0, schools work towards 'recognition' by the Victorian government as a health-promoting school. Schools can also undertake 'climate and health actions' to strengthen existing activities.

Member schools receive access to an online portal with supporting resources and tools. Schools may also have access to a Health Promoter in their local community to provide on the ground support. The program is self-paced and actions can be implemented at any time.

The Achievement Program is supported by the Victorian Government and delivered by Cancer Council Victoria.
