Built from lived experience and delivered with compassion, The Big Sister Experience focuses on emotional intelligence, resilience, self-worth, and healthy relationships through interactive workshops and programs.
The Big Sister Experience programs are facilitated by relatable, big-sister-style facilitators who create a safe, open space where students feel seen, heard, and valued.
Facilitators speak honestly and respectfully, sharing real stories and encouraging students to do the same. With a preventative and proactive approach to mental health, the workshops cover topics such as body image, using your own voice, conflict resolution, identity, and personal boundaries.
The program is run on-site in primary and secondary schools, with sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each age group and community.
In addition to student workshops, comprehensive resources for educators and professional development tools are also provided to help continue the conversation long beyond the program.
Program cost varies depending on group size, educator or parent sessions and access to Victorian Mental Health Menu Funding.
The Big Sister Experience is informed by positive psychology and the PERMAH model. Since 2019, the program has engaged over 25,000 students across more than 100 schools.
