Aims & approach

CBITS aims to reduce symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety, and improve social and academic functioning.

Children complete screening and validation interview prior to beginning CBITS. Caregivers are not interviewed or assessed.

The program consists of 10 group sessions, approximately an hour in length and usually conducted once per week in a school setting during a typical class period.

CBITS involves 6 to 8 children per group, and is intended for ages 10-18 years, or middle and high school students

  • students also participate in one to two one-hour individual sessions
  • parents participate in two one-hour education sessions
  • teachers participate in one one-hour education session

Live, in-person training is available upon request.
