The eSmart Digital Licence program is a comprehensive suite of educator-led lessons for learners aged 4 to 12 years. These resources have been co-designed with over 800 primary school students and their teachers to ensure they are classroom ready and appropriate.
The program is adaptable to a range of education settings (including offline delivery) and offers all the resources needed to build essential digital and media literacy skills. Each resource is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and is scalable to student need with check-in points and extension options in every lesson plan.
The Digital Licence program consists of four core lessons and two optional introduction and conclusion sessions. It is recommended to complete these sessions over the course of one school term, but it can be condensed or spread out as required. Educators can take students through the Digital Licence OR do ad-hoc single lesson plans from the portal.
Educators follow five steps in achieving a Digital Licence for students:
All resources have been reviewed by the Centre for Accessibility Australia and designed to be inclusive of low ADII (Australian Digital Inclusion Index) with offline options for all resources.
The program aligns with multiple educational standards, including
It is designed to integrate smoothly into a variety of subjects such as English, Drama, Health and Physical Education, Digital Technologies, and General Capabilities. Detailed information on curriculum alignment can be found in the 'Aligned Curriculum' section of the program's lesson plans.
Evaluation conducted by ACER 2024-2025.
