Aims & approach

GAME CHANGERS is a full-day onsite training for up to 25 Year 9-10 student leaders, aim to develop leadership, responsibility, and teamwork, and teaching them to facilitate team-building and problem-solving games for younger students.

Delivered in two sessions - an interactive morning training and a practical afternoon of facilitated activities - it equips student leaders to continue to run team-building games throughout the year.

The program aligns with the Australian Curriculum (Personal and Social Capability) and includes a school toolkit for implementation. There is also a version for Year 5-6 students called Play. Training is conducted by experienced facilitators with necessary clearances.

Evidence

The program is informed by Play Based Learning and Self Determination Theory, and is endorsed by a review of the program conducted by Dr Mark Kohler from the University of Adelaide. The experience is further supported by positive feedback provided by participants via student evaluation surveys.
