Healthier Hearts & Lighter Minds aims to build social and emotional literacy in primary schools for students, teachers and families.
The program begins with a focus on social-emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and empathy. As students progress, they explore deeper topics like making positive choices, managing behaviours, anxiety, embarrassment, failure and showing up as their best selves even in the face of setbacks and challenges.
The program includes age-appropriate, fun and engaging workshops delivered by trained Mindfull Aus facilitators, as well as a 12-month curriculum for independent delivery, resources and school support.
Delivery of the workshops requires a quiet space and support from school leadership.
Funding is available through the Victorian Mental Health Menu.
The impact of the program is supported by a comprehensive evaluation conducted by Social Outcomes Lab (SOULAB) from 2022-2024. Further details about the evaluation can be found here.
