The Learning Curve's mission is to provide weekly PERMAH lessons and activities that challenge students personally and academically to leave their comfort zones to create pathways for growth.
Students learn by doing, and the teacher's role is to facilitate the lessons and activities, but not explicitly teach them. The aim is to prepare young people for the next 10 to 15 years of their lives, and enjoy getting a little better personally and academically every week.
The resources include an individual wellbeing growth journal or planner based on the PERMAH model for all 13 years of education, as well as accompanying Teacher Lesson Guides and Parent Newsletter Articles for primary and secondary on the free website. All student lessons and activities are evidence-based and adopt best practice approaches.
The program offers full and half-day seminars conducted in-person or online for remote schools.
The resources are informed by concepts and theories such as Broaden and Build (Fredrickson), PERMA (Seligman), Resilience (Reivich and Shatte), Character Strengths (VIA Institute), Habits of Mind (Costa and Kellick), Mindset and Grit (Dweck and Duckworth), Cognitive Load Theory, Learnership (Anderson), Academic Growth (Ericsson and Anderson) and more.
The impact of the resources are supported by numerous examples of positive feedback and recommendations from participating schools.
