The Learning Through Loss training aims to upskill all school staff so there is a shared language and responsibility to support the wellbeing of children and young people who are navigating grief and loss. The training is tailored for the school context, and we regualry receive feedback that the content is pitched perfectly for school staff.
The following topics are covered during the training:
The training runs for 90-minutes and typically takes place during after school meetings. The training is free for all Tasmanian schools.
Our Learning Through Loss educators deliver state-wide in Tasmania and we will gladly come to you wherever you are. We do deliver training online if that is your preference.
Despite the heavy topics we cover, most attendees leave feeling lighter and inspired to use the knowledge and skills shared. However, as you will learn in our training, grief is nonlinear, and big emotions can seemingly come out of nowhere. Please review the content we cover to allow you to make a decision on whether or not our training is something you can engage in at this time. Learning Through Loss is a preventative program and is not designed to be delivering in the 3-6 months after critical incidence or loss in the community.
Learning Through Loss (LTL) is a evidence based program that has been evaluated externally. The education is aligned with Trauma Informed, person-centred and strength-based approaches. Learning Through Loss was externally evaluated in 2022-2024, with positive findings.
