Aims & approach

MWEW promotes a healthier Tasmania in which children can enjoy healthy eating and physical activity every day. It supports whole-setting approaches to nutrition and physical activity to help prevent a range of chronic conditions and diseases and promote good physical and mental health.

MWEW provides support for educators to develope inclusive, equitable and sustainable approaches in primary schools and early childhood services. There are two components:

  • Move well: Physical activity information and resources
  • Eat well: Food and eating information and resources

The program encourages physical activity, healthy eating, and positive lifestyle habits to enhance wellbeing, along with resources, online and in-person guidance and incentives to support whole-setting approaches that benefit learning communities.

MWEW is informed by World Health Organisation frameworks for health promoting schools and early learning settings. MWEW is aligned with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the Australian 24 Hour Movement Guidelines
