Aims & approach

The WACSS Online Safety program avoids using overwhelming statistics or scare tactics. Instead, it engages in open discussion and up-to-date information to educate and empower young people.

The content of the primary school incursion (1 hour) includes:

  • Social media
  • Gaming
  • The impact of tech on the body and mind
  • Cyberbullying
  • Exposure to inappropriate content (including pornography, violence, or hateful content)
  • Online grooming
  • Parental controls

The programs aim for a whole-of-community approach, providing parent/carer workshops (2.5 hours), professional development (2.5 hours) and agency referrals alongside primary and secondary classroom sessions. Travel charges apply outside the Perth metropolitan area.

WA Child Safety Services is an expert in the sector and a selected provider for Department of Education schools across Western Australia.

Implementation support

  • Access to professional facilitator, instructor or mentor
