The Path of Life program provides unique personal development and group mentoring tools that use an inspirational, practical, and experiential approach to learning. It is filled with fun games and strategies on how to apply the lesson learnt practically in everyday life. Included with the program is a student journal with 'Action it' activities and questions to practically apply the weekly topic.
Twelve sessions aim to connect students with their leader. They allow students to grow and develop in a fun environment that teaches ethics and reinforces positive values, while at the same time offering continued support and guidance.
As the tools are learned, it is anticipated that students will begin to experience a strong sense of personal identity, confidence, and hope. These program objectives are achieved through four foundational concepts: Values, Hope and Purpose, Choices, and Goal Setting.
The Program runs for 11 weeks for 45-60 minutes per session, with flexibility in adapting it to a variety of settings with teachers, wellbeing, social workers, chaplains in schools, classrooms or small group settings, and as a leadership program with senior student leaders helping to facilitate.
It can be delivered by teachers, wellbeing staff, chaplains, social workers, or student leaders, depending on the school's context. Training involves 1 to 2 hours of reading the training manual. Appointments are also available for questions.
The program aligns with the Victorian Personal and Social Capabilities curriculum, and the Victorian Ethical Capabilities curriculum. Positive outcomes were reported in the 2014-2015 pilot.
