The standard student mental health program consists of two in-person presentations, usually delivered to Grade 11 cohorts. Students leave the program with a clear understanding of:

  • How to manage and reduce their stress levels
  • How to set up and maintain an exercise habit
  • How to attain high-quality and consistent sleep
  • How to maintain adequate vitamin D levels through sunlight exposure and time outdoors
  • How to prioritise people and social connection
  • How to build and maintain a positive habit
  • How to manage study, school pressures and mental health
  • Where to go to seek help for mental health issues

A third optional mental health presentation is offered for Grade 12 cohorts who attended the standard program the previous year.

Implementation support

  • Access to professional facilitator, instructor or mentor

Evidence

The program and delivery has been developed based on the latest theories and models of behavioural change and habit development. Evidence of the program's impact in the form of testimonials and survey results is publically available on the breakingFree website at www.breakingfree.org.au.
