Aims & approach

Restorative Practices seamlessly align with current teaching approaches, offering a unified system for conflict resolution, problem-solving, fostering social inclusiveness, promoting positive behaviour development, and strengthening community ties.

These practices help transform schools into safer, more productive learning environments, while also preparing students for a lifetime of meaningful, lasting relationships.

Both individual workshops and long-term partnerships are available, along with workshops for parents and carers. There is also a Student Peer Mentoring workshop - a 3-hour face-to-face session equipping student leaders with problem-solving and mentoring skills. Schools that engage in long-term partnerships receive access to a newsletter and ongoing resources.

Sessions for educators are offered as half-day or full-day options, delivering in-depth insights into the theories and practical applications of Restorative Practices. Sessions are mostly delivered face-to-face in-person by program facilitators visiting schools anywhere in Australia.

  • Access to professional facilitator, instructor or mentor
  • Ongoing helpdesk, email or phone support

Evidence

Restorative Practices have been shown to reduce suspensions, exclusions and expulsions, build emotional empathy and contribute to educator health and wellbeing by reducing stress. The program provides tools and underpinning principles which complement and align with existing pedagogy and educational values and can be contextualized to suit individual school community needs.
