Developed by ARACY in 2013, this pioneering framework outlines six pivotal, interconnected dimensions of wellbeing outlines what is essential for children and young people to thrive.
Individuals, agencies, programs and services, collective impact and place-based initiatives, government departments and policymakers, research institutions, advocacy groups and representative organisations across the country bring The Nest to life when they use it to frame their work. For example, the Nest Framework underpins the Tasmanian Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) annual Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey.
The Nest engaged and consulted with a wide range of stakeholders, including extensive consultations with over 4,000 children, families, and experts.
The process involved seeking collaborative input into the development of the vision, key result areas, and outcomes of the national action agenda.
A more comprehensive overview of the methodology and evidence supporting the development of The Nest can be found in the technical document available at https://www.aracy.org.au/the-nest-wellbeing-framework/.
