Aims & approach

The Trauma-Informed Practice in Education Course teaches strategies to recognise and respond well when a child may be triggered and experiencing a stress response, helping educators to explore and strengthen their understanding of trauma-informed practice.

This 10 hour self-paced online course provides theoretical knowledge and practical strategies to support a trauma-informed learning environment, such as how to recognise and respond effectively when a child may be experiencing a stress response.

The course provides the knowledge needed to teach students about the brain and stress responses, as well as classroom exercises to proactively build on trauma-informed principles like safety, trust and choice. This course also provides evidence-based strategies for educator self-care. Each module includes a meditation, self-check questions and reflective practice alongside the course content.

Purchasing a subscription grants 12 months of access to the online course, delivered via Smiling Mind's Learning Hub platform.
